Reaching Chamonix

There are several ways to get to Chamonix . Since the resort is situated in the French Alps there is relatively easy to get there from several major European cities. The easiest way to get there is by plane. There are several airlines that offer flights to Chamonix . The closest flight is from Geneva which is situated at about 90 kilometers from the Geneva International Airport . If you are flying into Chamonix you will have to transfer to your hotel or accommodation. Sometimes the hotel will provide shuttles for is clients, however if no transfer is provided you can take a taxi, rent a car or take a mini van.

If you travel by car you can either take the map and find the shortest why to the resort or you can get there through the Mont Blanc Tunnel. You can leave your car in one of the many parking places available in town and at the outskirts of the town. If you travel by car you should make sure you get exact directions on how to get to Chamonix . Once you get to the Autoroute Blanche which is part of the European motorway network you are on the right track. Chamonix is 15 kilometers from Italy if you wake Mount-Blanc Tunnel and 16 kilometers from Switzerland if you take the Montets Pass.

You can get more directions from your hotel or you can simply go online on a driving directions website, type in your address which would be the starting point of the trip and the address where you have accommodation, and print the directions. Most places that offer accommodation offer detailed directions on how to get to Chamonix .

There are about 4000 parking places in and around Chamonix . Some of these places belong to free parking areas and others are in private lots where one has to pay according to the amount of time the car is parked. If you stay for a week or more ask about the weekly rates and make sure you get a Guest Card so you can get a discount. The parking can be both covered and in open air.

If you travel by bus there are several buses to Chamonix that have rides from Geneva and Courmayeur. The schedule and the price of the tickets for these buses vary depending on the season.
